It's Monday! Get motivated!

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen these "I hate Monday" post on their friends social media sites but I see them every week. They drive crazy. Mondays are a fact of life. They come weekly and they really aren't that different from any otherday of the week. Sure it is sometimes harder to climb out of the bed on Monday morning but it is not impossible. Moving forward Im going to be sharing with you some of my favorite things (videos, quotes and what have you) that motivate and inspire me. Maybe these things will help you as well.

Here is an amazing video I found on youtube. Your attitude is the aroma of your heart.

The Company you Keep

I recently heard a statement that I absolutely agree with. The quote is, "If you lay down with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas."

I completely agree. The company you keep is a direct reflection of you. If your friends are out acting in an unbecoming manner you will be painted in the same vile brush. Who are you spending most of your time with? How are they affecting your reputation?

I know that there are some people that I no longer associate with because of their behavior. I have also stopped associating with people who just aren't going in the same direction that I feel my life is going.

Have you separated from any friends or associates in your quest to better your life?

Of Love Lost

I am uncertain of what rock I was under or why I missed it but I did.
Last year Keisha Cole released a song entitled "I Choose You". In the chorus she laments that ,

If it aint you, It's not worth it
No matter what I do, nothing's working
Baby I know love's not perfect
Even if he gives me the world it'll never be enough
Cause I choose you
I choose you
And if it ain't you
Then it's just not worth it

As I listened to the song I found myself thinking that I too have been there.
Just because I can relate though does not make it OK.
For one thing she sings of the new guy and how he can not possibly stack up to the old love that she longs for. For another she's making it a competition between herself and his new woman. Is that ever the correct route? Lastly she vows to continue to pursue him because "Even if he gives her the world it will never be enough".

Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation with a lost love that you could not let go?

Tell me about it.

Better me

This year I am determined to better myself. I am making time to read up on all kinds of subjects and I'm learning new skills as well as relearning new ones.

One of those skills is that I am 'relearning' is how to speak French.

French is actually the first language I ever spoke followed by Haitian Creole and then English.

So why do I need to relearn French? I haven't been fluent since my early childhood! That's what happens when you move to a country that doesn't speak your language and your family starts to speak English almost exclusively.

To reach that end I downloaded Duolingo an absolutely darling app that is similar to Rosetta Stone except it is free.

That's right you too can learn a language for free.99

Download it now. After French I'm going try Spanish.

If you have already tried it please let me know how it has worked out for you.

Happy New Year!

Hello all!

I have been gone so  long and I am so sorry!
I have short stories that I have been working on and I would love for you to read them.

This year I resolve to be a better steward over my money.
I'm sure that is a common resolution. :-)

I also resolve to be a better friend to those who call me friend.
I resolve to work out consistently and eat better.

I resolve to write more often and to share my writing here on this blog.

What are your new years resolutions?
Or have you decided to not have any resolutions?

Dear Mr. Nice Guy

I really do not like the phrase, 'Nice guys finish last'. Let us eradicate that phrase from our vocabularies please.

Dr. Mr. Nice Guy,

You are NOT losing to the ‘bad boys’. You’re simply not following the rules of how to get a girl.
Assuming that you’re ‘a good guy’ and should therefore automatically win the girl is backwards.
It’s like a woman assuming that because she’s pretty she shouldn’t be single. That’s ASININE!!!
Please stop making these assumptions people. If you want to find someone who is worthy of the love you seek, become a person worth seeking.

I will climb off of my soap box now.

Have a great day!

Sing-A-Long Saturday :)

Tinie Tempah is a really awesome artist from across the pond.
This Nigerian descended British rapper rocks.
"Oh, written in the stars
A million miles away
A message to the main
Oh
Seasons come and go
But I will never change
And I'm on my way"

These lyrics just speak to me.
How about you?
